Do you sometimes itch, find your scalp flaking and notice the white flakes on your clothes? These are all signs that you may have dandruff. It’s common in both men and women and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Watch out- there can be home remedies for dandruff treatment at home.

Confused about what is causing you an itchy scalp?

Dandruff is not something to be taken lightly. It can signify a microinflammation, which might go unnoticed because there are no observable symptoms. A few other causes of dandruff include prolonged periods of stress, using shampoos containing magnesium sulphate, or using hair products with a high oil content.

  • Cases of Parkinson’s or eczema
  • Brushing too hard or going back and forth
  • Vitamin B12 is one of the many important nutrients that your body needs for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Some people may need to use a specialized hair care product if they have sensitive scalp.
  • Pollution is harmful to the environment and can negatively impact both humans and animals. Plants are also hurt by pollution, which makes them less healthy.

If your scalp is always oily or greasy, or if you experience bursts of intense itching for no apparent reason, these are both signs of dandruff.

In worse cases, you may also have areas on the scalp that are inflamed red and sore or have a loss of hair. You spend a fortune on antidandruff products to manage this issue because these symptoms get worse each time you try. But many of the best home remedies involve ingredients you already have in your kitchen!

Some effective home remedies for dandruff are:

  • Coconut oil and lemon:

Coconut oil has many benefits that your grandmother would recommend. It’s anti-fungal properties can provide relief for itchy and dry scalps. In a bowl, mix equal parts of coconut oil and lemon juice to make a scalp massage mixture. Keep this on your hair for 10-15 minutes, rinse out the formula, and you’ll not only get rid of dandruff but also promote hair growth and nourishment. Make sure to preheat the oil in winter as it tends to freeze easily in cold temperatures.

  • Yogurt:

Yogurt is a treasure trove of bacteria that can help prevent flaking of the scalp. It also helps with dandruff and strengthens your hair from its roots. To use, apply a layer of fresh yogurt to your scalp and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing away with lukewarm water. You can also get anti-fungal properties in yogurt by adding black pepper.

  • Neem:

A paste made of neem leaves has been used for centuries to cure skin problems. They’re antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, so a mixture will do wonders for your dandruff, itchiness or even a headache. Alternatively, boil some fresh neem leaves then let them cool before rinsing your hair with the water.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV):

Add 2-3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar to a cup of water, mix it up, and rinse your hair with the mixture. Leave it in for two minutes before rinsing it out. To make sure that the pH balance is restored on your scalp and you remove all of the nasty buildup, use this rinse once a week.

  • Salt:

It’s important to treat dandruff at home because oily scalps make you itchy and irritated. Eliminating the buildup of excess oil can also help cure acne on your forehead. That’s why it’s best to address this issue as quickly as possible.

When hair gets too oily, a good trick is to add a bit of salt to your shampoo or conditioner and then massage it gently over the entire scalp. Let it sit for about a minute before washing with warm water.

  • Olive oil and Vinegar:

Olive oil is rich in natural oils and, unlike other heavy hair products, it doesn’t weigh hair down. Combined with the acetic acid in vinegar, which kills fungi on the skin’s surface, olive oil is perfect for preventing and healing scalp conditions- even if you have dandruff or psoriasis.

Dandruff can be a major annoyance, but luckily there are some quick home remedies you can try to combat it. Mix together one teaspoon of olive oil and two teaspoons vinegar. Rub the mixture in your hair, massaging your scalp for five minutes.

Wash it out with an antidandruff shampoo and apply a conditioner afterwards for best results. In addition to these quick home remedies, we have some other great tips to help reduce flakiness and dryness in your scalp: try to avoid eating too much sugar, fats, and carbs!

  • When styling your hair, try to avoid artificial heat sources, as they can damage it and cause dandruff.
  • Don’t scratch often
  • To loosen the dead skin on your scalp, wash your hair 2-3 times a week.
  • Protect your hair by brushing it often. Your blood circulation will be improved and you’ll increase the natural oil production in your scalp.

In order to reduce or eliminate dandruff, it is important to follow a balanced and healthy hair care routine. If the itchiness or dryness still persists, you should take your condition to a doctor for an examination of seborrheic dermatitis.
